About Me

I am a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological and Agricultural Systems engineering with a minor in Chemistry. I am also a graduate of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where I received a Masters of Science Degree in Food Science and Nutrition. Since graduation, I have worked in the field of education for over 18 years. I taught in higher education for about years and transitioned into secondary education where I taught Chemistry and AP Chemistry for a number of years. I have also taught Physical science, 6th grade science, 7th grade science, and 8th grade science. I have spent a great deal of my spare time tutoring students in science, in particular Chemistry, as well as attending many diverse types of professional development opportunities. I feel that every student has the ability to learn science. I think the way that the content is delivered can have a major impact on the learning process. I try to keep my instruction culturally relevant and show my students that the information they learn in science has real world applications. In my spare time, I love to read, travel, and attend plays and concerts.
