I have a BS in Secondary English Education with a minor in Technical Writing, and I've used this training to teach traditional English, literature, and drama classrooms in 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th grades. I use the skills from my minor to break down information in a manageable way; after all, technical writing is all about providing clear, helpful instructions! In 2021, I received my MA in English with a graduate certificate in the theory and practice of teaching college writing. I use this degree to teach English 1101 and English 1102 at a community college in Georgia. I teach traditional and non-traditional students, including many high school juniors and seniors who are dually-enrolled. I specifically enjoy working with writers who lost opportunities to build foundational knowledge due to the COVID lockdowns and digital learning. I also have experience working with English Language Learners and individuals with special needs. I currently work full time as the Director of Programs and Education at a live performance theatre. This job allows me to teach literacy through drama to individuals between the ages of 5 and 100. As a teacher and tutor, my goal is to analyze the learning styles of my students and use the analysis to find ways of meeting them where they are. From there, we'll get them to wherever they want to be and beyond.
