I am a graduate of he University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Master of Science in Literacy, and Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My second Educational Specialist Degree is in Educational Leadership. I am also a certified National Board Literacy Teacher and an academic language therapist (dyslexia). I had the opportunity to teach virtually for my school district and provide online tutoring to students across the United States, as well as serve as an ESL teacher for students in China. I am most passionate about Literacy. In my experience, providing systematic and explicit instruction is the most effective way to grow fluent readers who will be able to decode, connect meaning, and comprehend text. My goal as a reading teacher is to emphasize the importance of addressing all aspects of literacy, including reading comprehension, writing skills, oral communication, and media literacy. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and volunteering in my community.
