About Me

I slept through most of my high school history classes but really came to love the subject in college for its balance of flexibility and rigor. You can literally study anything in history so long as you can reason from evidence. And that's my chief passion: Helping students improve their analytical and communication skills. I received my doctorate from Purdue University in 2006 and have been teaching U. S. and contemporary World history full-time ever since. In my classes, I stress reading, analysis, and writing over memorization, yet I can help you with whatever goals you might be aiming for. I love back-and-forth discussion and debate whenever possible!
