With this degree, I have advanced my knowledge in core mathematical, statistical, and modelling areas such as time series forecasting, regression, classification, clustering, and statistical analysis. Before that, I had my bachelor's degree in mathematics education from the University of Lagos in Nigeria. During my undergraduate studies, I developed my knowledge in core areas of mathematics such as algebra, analysis (real and complex), mechanics, calculus, operations research, and statistics. I graduated at the top of my class with a CGPA of 4.58 out of 5.0 and was among the top five students in my department to receive the prestigious dean's scholar award. As an undergraduate student, I participated in several student organizations, one of which was the science education student association. There, I volunteered to partake in offering tutorials to academically challenged students, explaining complex topics and concepts in mathematics to my fellow undergraduate students to help them understand. After my undergraduate studies, I proceeded to Crawford University, Nigeria, where I worked as a research assistant and served in substitute teaching roles, offering tutorials to students in mathematical and statistically related content. I set up a tutoring centre to assist students with difficulty in their academic work. Tutoring appeals to me for two main reasons, firstly, it is something that makes me feel good about myself, it is like a hobby for me. It delights me to see students succeed academically. The second reason is that it provides an opportunity for me to meet with students from various backgrounds, I get to learn from them and share in their academic journey. Overall, I want to be able to make an impact on society at large and this is one way I know I can use my talents to make a difference. I am looking forward to making the most out of this opportunity and assisting students in the best possible way I can, and it is with great honour and appreciation that I write down this statement.
