I am passionate about helping students because of the positive influence I can make in their education, of which I think is a key determinant in their future success in life. I have taught high school students in biology, chemistry, anatomy, beginning physics, from 2015-2019 and really enjoyed the relationships we developed and friendships. I was also lucky enough to be involved in extra-curricular activities with them. I got my education in multiple places - Univ. of South Carolina, then transferred to Michigan State to graduate with my bachelor's degree in Biology. I went on to Des Moines Univ. to obtain my doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. I did a 1-year general rotating internship a mid-sized community hospital and my residency for 3 years in Neurology and Psychiatry through many hospital and university systems at the direction of Michigan State Univ. I probably enjoy teaching and tutoring high school students in biology, chemistry, and college students in anatomy and physiology the most as they are my most comfortable subjects currently. But I am willing to branch out into test prep and other new areas as well. My teaching styles vary based on the number of students and types of students. For example, the facilitator, of the five types of teachers styles, promotes self-learning and self-actualization. This style in my opinion can only be done with the most intelligent and self-motivated students. I prefer hybrid or blended style for most students -- such as blending my personality and interests with the student's needs. In larger settings like lecture halls, I use the authority or lecture style, due to the inability to do one on one instruction truly and practically.
