About Me

I love being a teacher/tutor. After graduating from Brigham Young University (in 2000) with a major in history and a double minor in English and TESOL, I taught in a high school ESL classroom for three years. During that time, I also earned my Master's of Education degree from Southern Utah University (2003). Since then I have taught and tutored in and out of the classroom. I have nearly 3 years' experience tutoring online. I love connecting with all kinds of students. Online I have worked with pre-K, elementary, and middle school students from the US, Canada, Mexico, and China. Besides teaching in the US high school and college classrooms, I have taught in Mexico and Poland. I am fluent in Spanish and certified with the state of Nevada to teach social studies, English, English as a Second Language, and Spanish. Recently, I have worked closely with young students doing guided reading. I especially have experience helping students with dyslexia and other reading disorders. I am passionate about helping students to improve their academic abilities and discover the joy of learning. In my free time, I coach basketball, hike, garden, and read. My husband and I have five children. Being a mom has made me a much better teacher/tutor.
