About Me

I graduated from Michigan State University (Go green!) with my BA in History. I studied mostly American History while there. When I was in eighth grade, I had an amazing Social Studies teacher who made it so fun and interesting. She was incredibly inspirational and started my passion for the subject. I also had some really impactful professors in college who grew my love for the subject as well. I have been known to bring up my African American Women's History class from college because it was so eye opening and inspirational. I know history can be one of the more boring subjects, and so my goal is to make it fun and invigorating for students. There are so many amazing and crazy stories that can be found in the past. I have a habit of sharing parody videos and funny images on topics because I feel like they really help the information stick better. I try to involve all different types of learning styles by using videos and songs if applicable. I have visual presentations I use when going over material that students find confusing. I also share those with students so they can use them when studying. While I would feel most comfortable helping students American History, I am not afraid to dust off my skills when it comes to European or World History. When I'm not tutoring, I love spending time with my family, playing piano, watching movies and crafting.
