About Me

Hi, my name is Tim, and I teach languages. Why study with me? 3 reasons: I have experience and qualifications, I tailor my lessons to what you need, and I understand the point of view of the student. I have a master's degree in teaching ESL and French, and I have taught for over 30 years. I've taught everyone from kindergartners to senior citizens, I've taught in schools, in companies and hospitals and one-on-one. I've taught English, Japanese, French and Spanish. I lived in Japan for 25 years, but for the last few years I taught Spanish and Japanese in an American middle school. Now I teach at a community college. My experience allows me to tailor my lessons to your needs. I listen to your goals, I observe your language needs and learning styles, and I design practice to help you where you need help. I love learning languages, and I've traveled around the world studying a dozen languages. So I can see things from the point of view of the learner. I can sympathize with both your excitement and your frustration.
