About Me

In my 33rd year of teaching, I am a graduate of Slippery Rock University (Bachelors & Masters) and the Univ. of Pittsburgh (SpEd Admin). I am certified in Early Childhood Education, General/Middle Education, Special Education, SpEd Admin and a Reading Specialist. I taught grades 4-6 for 12 years and made a change to high school (gr. 8-12), where I spent almost 20 years working as a Reading Specialist and a Learning Support/Emotional Support teacher. In August 2023, I made the decision to return to working with early readers...so I am now a 1st grade teacher! I have loved every grade level! It is my 4th year with Varsity Tutors and I really enjoy working with students from all over the world. My favorite is teaching the small group courses that allow the students to grow personally in areas of interest or need. I also enjoy working one on one with students. My goal is to motivate, encourage and support them to grow in academics. As a parent to 2 college students, I fully recognize & understand crazy schedules, the importance of time management/organizational skills and the ups/downs the parents & students face on a daily basis. I incorporate not only my education as a teacher, but also experiences as a parent to structure my lessons in an individualized way that helps with not only academic performance, but also personal growth.
