About Me

During a career that spans more than 25 years, Dr. Dabney began her career as an administrative assistant in the Veteran and International Student Office at San Jacinto College. Her first work experience at San Jacinto College, eventually led to a long-standing career in higher education as a community college staff member, adjunct professor, college dean, and campus vice president. Throughout her career, Dr. Dabney has had the opportunity to engage students in the classroom as an adjunct professor. For more than three years, she has taught developmental and college level English classes. She has also taught courses in business management and communication as an adjunct professor in a community college environment. More recently, she has served as a substitute teacher and education consultant for Conroe and Magnolia ISDs, located near The Woodlands, Texas area. In this current role Dr. Dabney regularly teaches ESL, Math, Science, Speech and History in K-12 schools, primarily at 6-12 grade level. This new career opportunity in the K-12 system, has provided Dr. Dabney the opportunity to commit even more to doing her life's work, by helping young students discover their own talents and opportunities, through hands-on learning in a classroom and online in a virtual learning environment. Dr. Dabney is currently serving as an associate professor of Business Professions and Entrepreneurship for Odessa College in Texas. She is passionate about student learning and is dedicated to helping students achieve their personal and professional goals. When the opportunity presents itself, she has helped graduate students achieve their dream of earning a master's or doctoral degree, through virtual coaching sessions. Thus far, she has effectively supported three doctoral candidates through the process of completing their master's thesis and doctorate dissertation. Dr. Dabney holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, a M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix-Houston Northwest Campus, a B.A. in communication from the University of Houston Clear Lake and an A.A. in social science from San Jacinto College.
