I am a CPA and CFA III candidate. Looking to tutor students and professionals in finance and accounting. I know how challenging business topics and professional exams can be at first, based on my own personal experience. I am hoping to be a mentor and guide those who are looking to follow in a similar path and further advance their careers and finance/accounting knowledge-base. I am a student at the University of North Florida, and I will be graduating with both an accounting and finance degree in December. I have always had a passion for teaching and have tutored in subjects ranging from Calculus to SAT prep. However, as a UNF tutor and SI, I primarily assisted students with accounting classes. From high school accounting to upper level college courses, I am extremely comfortable with the accounting taught in school and would love to assist any with it.

I am a recent graduate of SUNY Polytechnic Institute where I received my Master of Science in Accountancy with a concentration in Forensic Accounting and Valuation. Several years prior to that, I graduated from Siena College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. I have been a licensed CPA in New York State for almost 20 years and have extensive experience in the accounting field. I am currently engaged in public accounting, but my knowledge base is bolstered by various private accounting experiences in small manufacturing companies, a regional bank, and a nonprofit organization. I have been teaching and training colleagues, staff, and clients for many years. I have discovered that it is a natural inclination for me and has become my passion, particularly encouraging younger staff members to excel. I endeavor to teach in such a manner that students transition beyond understanding the basic concepts presented to being able to apply them effectively in practice.

I am a University of Texas at Austin Master in Professional Accounting graduate who has tutored at every level of my education career. From helping fellow students in high school with math to assisting graduate students with accounting as a TA, I understand the impact a good tutor can have not only on the bottom line grade but on overall confidence in a subject. Studying for the CPA exam (and scoring FAR-93, AUD-90, BEC-95, REG-94) puts me in a unique position to break complicated accounting subjects into their most basic components. I am most passionate about SAT/ACT Reading and Writing, Spanish, History, and ESOL. I enjoy being a tutor because I love to help students strive for and achieve their goals! I believe every student learns in a different way, which is why I personalize my tutoring approach to fit YOUR needs. I am familiar with the SAT and ACT reading and writing sections, and I can help students improve their scores by walking them through practice questions AND giving them my own testing strategies. I know the SAT and ACT can be stressful for students, but I prepare them so that they walk into the testing room feeling confident and ready!

I am a rising senior at The University of North Texas in Denton. I am working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish as well as English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I was raised in an academically competitive environment in Fort Bend County and my rigorous secondary education prepared me for success in college. I am a fortunate member of the Terry Scholarship Foundation, which has provided me and hundreds of other Texans with a private, four-year, full-ride scholarship. As a Terry Scholar, I am well-versed in all subjects and have taken on the role of mentor to many of the incoming freshmen. I have spent most of my free time in college as a nanny and tutor to families around the DFW area. I have experience with all age groups and there is nothing that intimidates me! While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, History, Spanish, and Government/Social Studies. Through my experiences helping struggling students and peers, I have realized the value of adaptability. Most people reach out to a tutor because the traditional classroom method is not best suited for their learning needs. There is nothing more joyful than when a student finally understands the material in a way that makes sense to them. Many times, students need flexibility and patience in order to grasp a foreign concept. I am a firm believer in the power of education and I hope to share my love of learning with all of my students. After graduation I plan on returning to Houston to obtain my Master of Arts in Teaching from Rice University. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing anything from poetry to screenplays. I have also been involved in competitive dance for most of my adolescence, so I understand the balance of academics and extracurriculars.
