I am Dr. Shimelis, Ph.D., P.E., a licensed Professional Engineer (PE Civil: Water Resources and Environmental), educator, and researcher with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Civil and Agricultural Engineering. My expertise lies in water resources engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, and related civil and environmental engineering disciplines. I specialize in tutoring engineers preparing for the PE Civil: Water Resources and Environmental, PE Civil: Construction, PE Civil: Geotechnical, PE Environmental, FE Civil, FE Environmental, and FE Other Disciplines exams. My students have a strong record of success. Recently, eight of my students passed their PE exams, and five additional students passed the FE Civil exam. I am passionate about helping engineers master key concepts, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and develop effective exam strategies that lead to success.

As a graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Innovation in Museum Studies and Gallery Practices, and a current PhD student in Construction Management at Louisiana State University, I bring a unique blend of academic and real-world experience to my teaching. I served for 10 years in the U.S. Army as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot, where I developed strong leadership, discipline, and decision-making skills. I also operate a remodeling business, allowing me to connect academic concepts to real construction practices. With over two years of tutoring experience in English, Art, German, Reading, and Writing, I focus on building confidence, critical thinking, and practical understanding. My goal is to create an engaging environment where students can succeed academically and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.
