I'm a recent graduate of the California Institute of Technology in Economics and Computer Science. I was also accepted at Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Stanford. I have a broad range of interests spanning science, math, engineering, social science, the humanities, the arts, and athletics (I also played on the Caltech basketball team). My background allows me to tutor general college prep, especially the SAT, ACT and the GRE. On campus I am involved in the Bilbo lab, which focuses on neuroimmune interactions in abnormal brain development. I am a sophomore at the University of Chicago pursuing a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Inequality, Social Problems, and Change. I also hold an IB diploma and particularly enjoyed my psychology and environmental systems and societies courses. Hi my name is Reed and I am a graduate from Carleton College with a degree in Economics. I have a passion for helping students learn and achieve their academic and personal goals. At Carleton, I played Varsity Soccer, hosted a radio show, and served as an economics prefect/TA for introductory microeconomics classes. In this role, I both held classroom sessions and tutored students individually. It was rewarding to see the results of my efforts and the impact I could have on other students. I am currently an adjunct professor of economics at Fordham University in Manhattan. My degrees are from Rice University (PhD) and Yale University (BA) The PhD is in economics, and that was my major as an undergraduate. I'm a project manager, who has worked for Kraft Heinz and nonprofits, and is currently training to become a secondary English literature teacher. I was born and raised in Germany but have spent more than 10 years abroad.

I'm a very patient tutor and love to use fun games to engage students while making sure that they understand the material rather than just memorizing. I'm passionate about learning, but outside of academia I spend my free time traveling, cooking, and making art. In college, I was lucky enough to study in Abu Dhabi, Florence, and Buenos Aires, and enjoyed seeing more of the Middle East, Europe, and South America. I am a TEFL certified English language teacher, with multiple years of experience teaching English overseas, having lived in both Thailand and Laos, and worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I am currently a sophomore at New York University studying Mathematics. Math and science have always fascinated me due to their application towards everyday technology. I'm thankful to have attended a high school that allowed me the opportunity to offer academic support to my peers. There were no material incentives - the rewards were intrinsic. Thus, I learned to love teaching for its own sake. When I came to college, the opportunities only expanded. I was able to support myself through the first year of college on this skill alone. It continued to be something I enjoyed, and it ultimately led to me directing a tutoring program - the Let's Get Ready program, at my former high school. I was raised in an academically competitive environment in Fort Bend County and my rigorous secondary education prepared me for success in college. My favorite subjects to tutor are history and english because I love to write, so I really enjoy the analytic facets of these classes. I am a high school graduate currently attending Case Western Reserve University as a junior where I am double majoring in economics and physics. Although economics and physics are my majors, mathematics is my favourite subject. The reason I am tutoring is that I want to provide help in mathematics and other subjects which I did not have for myself when I was in high school. Not only do I want to tutor because I have a feeling it will be beneficial for students but I also enjoy teaching. Whenever I show teenagers something cool about physics or math, they seem to enjoy the subject more now that they know how it works and they also do better in their classes which is a great feeling for me and beneficial for the students. I am a current Undergraduate Student at Michigan Technological University, studying General Engineering planning to pursue a dual major in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
