I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with two Master's of Education degrees. The first degree is in Literacy Studies, where I learned how to help strugglers and emergent bilinguals become better readers. My second degree is in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. I have spent the last three decades helping people learn how to do various things--from water safety instruction and playing the piano--from phases of matter to Shakespeare! I am a well rounded scholar and I am a life-long learner. I hope to start a PhD in Literacy Studies in 2023.I believe that every person CAN and WILL learn. I also believe that learning can be fun. This was a challenge during the pandemic, but my students and I succeeded in creating a collegial atmosphere of engaged learners.

Currently, I am an 8th grade Intervention Specialist (Reading &Writing) and an ELA co-teacher. Along with that I also teach summer school (ELA classes). I have a PASSION to help students be better readers, writers, thinkers and become confident in what skills they have to bring into the classroom. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Muhlenberg College, where I completed Elementary and Secondary Teaching Certification programs. After teaching in the classroom, I transitioned to private tutoring, specializing in teaching English Language Arts (reading, writing, spelling, grammar and morphology) to students with dyslexia. Currently, I tutor in-person at my local Children's Dyslexia Center, where I completed over 200 practicum hours and earned the Orton Gillingham based Dyslexia Practitioner I & II Certificates. I tutor both in person and online. I love to individualize lessons for each of my students based on their interests and educational experiences.

I am a doctoral student in linguistic anthropology at Michigan State University, where I previously received two bachelor's degrees in professional writing and comparative cultures and politics with a minor in Spanish. After graduating, I worked as a behavior aide in an elementary school helping students in need of extra behavioral support in the classroom and in social situations. The following year, I was a long-term substitute Spanish teacher for grades pre-K through 8th, where I gained experience developing lesson plans for exploratory Spanish all the way up to students receiving high school credit for Spanish 1.I am eager to tutor because I absolutely love both teaching and being a student myself. For that reason, I enjoy tutoring a wide range of topics and getting to learn new things as I engage in the material I'm working on with students.While I am most passionate about topics in the social sciences and humanities, I also love math and am proficient in Spanish. I love working with students of all ages and helping support students as they navigate coursework, tests, and essays.

As a student, I am highly interested in the sciences which has led me to be in this position as a pharmacy student. I love to learn about biochemical processes of our body and how medications can alter that. Once that knowledge has been obtained, it is amazing to learn about how it can be applied therapeutically. My background consists of a public health degree while which helps me understand the broad perspective of health and then learning about pharmacy helps me zoom in and be able to clinically help patients. Professionally, I aspire to be in a workplace where I could continue being innovative and where I can utilize my compassion for individuals. I want a degree of freedom along with my job where I could learn new things and at the same time follow protocol.
