Although I am new to being a professional tutor, I have felt like I've been teaching (and learning!) my whole life. I have taught lots of different things: how to weld, how to tie knots, how to change your own motor oil, and how to play the drum set. Most recently in my professional career I found myself lecturing to fellow engineers on the properties of shape memory alloys (never did I imagine myself doing that!). Despite the large array of subject matter, there is one common thread I have noticed through all of it: getting new concepts to 'click' and 'stick' is extremely satisfying. Some of my best experiences have been working one on one with my fellow classmates throughout my academic career. I enjoy getting to know others through the learning process and have come to realize that no two people learn the same way. With my personality, patience, and experience interacting with others, I am confident I can tune in to your own personal learning style and help you with your studies.I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and have always been a math and science nerd: physics especially! It is these subjects that I feel I can be the most helpful. After college, I worked in the medical device industry as a material scientist for eight years before moving to Tucson. Here I am in the middle of starting my own business emphasizing the creation of healthy soils that will benefit people and planet. While I am not busy teaching others new things or saving the world, I like to ride bicycles, play in the dirt (aka gardening), exercising, and eating healthy food.

I am a retired Chemistry/Astronomy/Earth Science teacher. I know that all students are capable of learning! However, they need to be taught some simple basics on how to read for comprehension, write using evidence, problem solve using diagrams, and finally, study using a strategy. When any deficiencies have been addressed within the subject area, then the student becomes capable of understanding new concepts and then continuing successful progress on their own. As a tutor, I will make every effort to identify the student's deficiencies that need to be strengthened while maintaining an understanding of current concepts are approached. I look forward to assisting you in your academic achievements.

I have found that finance is not a subject that many students have had much exposure to in the past. I chose a career in finance because I find it to be a very important, challenging and rewarding occupation. I have worked in the investment management and financial planning industry for 25 years. I currently work for a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm that handles complex client relationships. I have also been an adjunct university finance professor for 9 years that taught master's and undergraduate finance classes. I received my MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO. I received my bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in psychology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I do hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. I have also been a grader of the level III CFA exam many times. I also am a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). I do enjoy tutoring investment management, corporate finance and financial planning. I believe finance is an art form that may not always have one answer. My style is one of calmness and patience with students. I may not always have the answer right away but will get it. I do also believe the basics are completely understood before we move on to more complex topics.

I have worked with a variety of clients (professionals and students) for years and I have gained the ability to communicate effectively with these individuals in a respectful, relatable manner in order to facilitate the experience and reach to an accomplished objective. In addition to these jobs, I have also volunteered my services to friends, and colleagues in order for them to advance in their educational career goals. Conjointly, I am a person who embraces diversity and enjoys interacting with people of different cultures.I'm a very dedicated person and will not move on to a new topic until I feel that each student has grasped the concept being taught. Thus far, I have been rather successful every time I have tutored an individual to understand the material and raise his/her grades. As long as each student puts in the effort when I tutor, he/she will succeed!

I am an energetic and enthusiastic college student who loves working with both high school and college students of all backgrounds and interests. I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Hispanic Linguistics program at the University of Arizona, and have previously earned a B.A. in Spanish and Linguistics with a minor in Gender and Women's Studies and an M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics. Above all, I strive to identify students' learning styles and preferences and to help them not only understand material but also see how it is relevant to them. And ideally, students will have fun in the process! In terms of experience, I currently teach Spanish courses at the University of Arizona, and I have worked as a math tutor in public middle and high schools and a math, English composition, and Spanish tutor for the University of Arizona, where I became a certified Advanced Tutor by the College Reading and Learning Association. I have also worked with students of Spanish as a foreign language and students of Spanish as a heritage language, helping to improve not only the four main linguistic abilities, but also cultural and metalinguistic knowledge, all while increasing confidence. My work as a mentor and peer advisor in student retention programs has also equipped me with the tools to help students succeed as independent learners. In addition to course material, I help students learn how to develop effective study habits and how to adapt their preferences and styles to specific disciplines and instructors.

I am a Math Major/CompSci Minor in the Honors College at the University of Arizona. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and I've spent the past 5 years tutoring local students in Math. I received a perfect score of 800 on the SAT Math portion. I took every AP math course available to me in high school: AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics; receiving scores of 5, 5 (with a 5 on the AB subsection), and 3 respectively. I also have extensive experience in dealing with ADD/ADHD in relation to both academia and day-to-day life. But more important than all of this is the fact that I, quite candidly, love my job. It has been a genuine pleasure to meet new students and learn their various talents and interests, while simultaneously having the chance to tutor them in one of my own interests: Mathematics. I hope you'll consider me for your tutoring needs.

As an Materials Science and Engineering major, math is a big part of my academic career. I was introduced to tutoring in my residence hall as a freshman. I would help the girls in my hall on their math homework. After that, I applied for a job at the tutoring center on campus and was accepted. Tutoring is by far the most enjoyable and rewarding job I have ever had. As a graduate student, I am no longer eligible to be a tutor, I have been looking for a way to keep doing what I love!Outside of school and work, I am a yoga enthusiast and hobbyist who enjoys making beaded bracelets.

I am a former practicing lawyer who now works as a Career Counselor at a top-50 law school. My law degree is from Cornell, and I studied political science and history at Hobart and William Smith Colleges for my B.A. I also have a degree in Higher Education administration. My experience allows me to really help high school, college, and law students - not only have I been there, but I've done the research as well. I can help you achieve your goals and also frame your goals. While I tutor a wide variety of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Law, History and Politics. I see students learn a lot when we work on writing and study skills as well as the reading comprehension and analytical reasoning portions of the LSAT.I always take an individualized approach with everyone I work with. This means we work to figure out what works best for you, since everyone has different learning styles. I'm very motivated, but have a great sense of humor - and if we're working over the Internet, there may be guest appearances by my dachshund, Boo Boo.
