About James

Over 4 million people follow James on social media to enjoy his wildly popular viral art videos, but he can trace back his career as an artist and graphic designer to a calligraphy class he took as a teenager—a class he took with the small goal of improving his handwriting. Nowadays, James designs logos, graphics, and creative campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the world, and displays his art across the globe. But he’s happiest when teaching art classes, in the hopes of inspiring others in the way that his calligraphy class transformed his life.

About the class

Explore character design and painting by collaborating directly with artist James Lewis to invent and bring to life a character that exemplifies creativity and learning. James will guide students through his creative process as they supply the inspiration and many of the details for a new character to come to life. Students will learn logo and mascot design, the artistry behind personification, and the interactive process of graphic design—and at the end of class will have a new character that they can call their own.
