About Farm Sanctuary

Farm Sanctuary was founded in 1986 to combat the abuses of factory farming, advocate for institutional reforms, and encourage a new awareness and understanding of farm animals. Farm Sanctuary’s humane education program educates thousands of students each year through classroom presentations, inspires student action through the organization’s Youth Leadership Council, and empowers teachers with standards-aligning curriculum on farm animals and issues in our food system.

About the class

This Earth Day, students can discover both why and how to care for the Earth and all of its inhabitants. Join Farm Sanctuary's humane educator to explore our global community and learn how caring for the Earth is a way of caring for one another. In this session, learners will collaborate with classmates from around the world, create their own Earth Day artwork, and gain camaraderie with the worldwide community of people, animals, and the environment. Meet your expert instructor, Amelia

As a Farm Sanctuary Humane Educator, Amelia teaches K-12 students about the lives of farm animals and issues of our food system. Amelia is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geography and an accelerated master's degree in Public Administration at Clark University. Amelia's connection with farm animals since a young age, their desire for a more just and compassionate food system, and their commitment to liberation for all inspired them to intern and later work with Farm Sanctuary's Education Team. Amelia currently lives in Worcester, MA with two rats, Remy and PJ. In their free time, Amelia loves to read, watch movies, create art, and cook delicious plant-based meals.
