About Cate
Cate Larsen, B.S. Geology, is a geo-communicator utilizing the connective power of the internet to bring geology education to the masses. Her background as a geologist and passion for teaching come together and drive her to share her knowledge. As the host of the podcast, The Schist of It, Cate breaks the language barrier between academia and society by breaking down newly published geoscience research into layman's terms with unique comedic commentary. Honing in on her knack for and the effectiveness of a casual teaching style, she also hosts a weekly livestream called Rocks & Hops that features engaging lessons on various geology topics.
About the class
Is time travel possible? Just ask a geologist: rocks are the key to investigating the past, telling us all about the eras of ancient civilizations, dinosaurs, primitive life forms, and the beginning of the earth itself. In this live, interactive class, geologist Cate Larsen will show students how to be time travelers and geology detectives, guiding them through investigations of rocks and geological phenomena and showing them how to use the scientific method as a form of detective work.
