The student had a unit 3 summative review. We worked on composite figure area calculation, the measure of an angle in a triangle, calculating an exterior angle, the volume of a cylinder and the volume of 3 spheres. She completed this packet with ease, and I think she should do very well on her exam next week.

We reviewed for his quiz by completing the study guide he was given by his teacher. He did very well with these problems; much better than he ever had before. We switched to some review materials I had brought to help him study for the quiz. After looking at these, we were able to finish the rest of the study guide.

The student was having trouble with understanding inequalities, so we worked through examples. We went over simple inequalities and how to plot them. We also talked about inequalities involving absolute value expressions and how to solve those, in addition to plotting them. He feels much better prepared for class now as a result of our session.

The student told me she will have a quiz next Tuesday. We reviewed a practice package on proof of theorems and application problems. In these problems were included solutions of linear equations and system of linear equations. I checked her understanding, and she was doing very well. She solved most of the practice problems, and she had an opportunity to clarify all of her doubts regarding this topic. She is ready for the quiz.

Today, we went over some homework problems on the properties of integrals and computing integrals by the methods of antiderivatives and geometry. The student did an exceptional job of mastering the properties of integrals. He is fluent in taking derivatives. He is able to get the problems with slight or no hints. Finally, we reviewed the basic idea of the fundamental theorem of calculus and the difference between "integrating then differentiating" and "differentiating then integrating."

The student and I worked on proofs. He had a worksheet that he completed. He had some trouble formulating the proof strategies. We worked on problem solving strategies, specifically how to apply whether to use SSS, AAS, and SAS methods to find congruency of triangles. We also worked on graphical proofs involving midpoint and distance formulas.
