Certified Tutor

Earlier this year, I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing. During my time as a student, I interned with two non-profits that focus on creative writing education, Deep Center and Touchstone Theatre. At Deep, my teaching partner and I developed lesson plans for two middle-grade class groups, covering topics such as figurative language, tone and mood, and genre. We incorporated games and music to make things fun, and during free writing time, we'd work individually with students who had writer's block while keeping track of the rest of the class. At Touchstone, I served as a counselor for the middle-grade playwriting summer camp. I helped teach concepts such as brainstorming and improv acting (which, for someone who likes acting, was a lot of fun!) and occasionally led games and small groups. By far my favorite subjects to tutor are Writing, English, and Literature, because these are passions of mine that I engage with every day! I believe language and stories have the power to inform, inspire, and help others. While communicating through writing can feel intimidating, I want to show students that they already have the skills and potential---it's just a matter of bringing out their unique voice!
