I'm currently pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematics at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I've worked with students both informally and in structured settings, including one-on-one sessions with high school students and even my peers from college. My experience and preferred fields include algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics. I enjoy teaching math topics that combine natural intuition with structure, such as calculus, where students start to see how abstract ideas connect to real-world scenarios.
My teaching philosophy is centered around exposure to diverse topics, methods, and ideas that encourage students to take intellectual risks and step out of their comfort zones. Adaptability is a tool I use to help students feel more comfortable, so I approach each session with the goal of illustrating the subject in a way that best suits each student's needs. I ask students to discuss their reasoning and justify mathematical claims so we can identify any gaps, as well as build their intuition and critical thinking skills. I often use analogies or parallels from other fields to help conceptualize various math concepts.
I conduct myself in a calm and patient manner, which has helped students find comfort and a sense of relatability. Outside of school, I have been exploring the connections between mathematics and philosophy, playing the ukulele, and studying analytic number theory.
