Tianci: Doral tutor
Certified Tutor
Helping students grow in confidence and understanding is what drives my passion for tutoring. I find deep fulfillment in guiding learners through challenges and celebrating their progress, no matter how big or small. My experience working with students began during university, where I tutored high school physics. This role taught me how to tailor explanations to different learning styles and helped me recognize the importance of patience and adaptability in teaching.
I earned my bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Western University in Canada, where I also strengthened my communication and technical skills through coursework and collaborative projects. I tutor a variety of subjects, including Mandarin, math, computer science, and high school physics. Mandarin is my native language, and having studied and worked in both English and Mandarin-speaking environments, I bring a bilingual advantage to my teaching. My current role as an AI trainer in math and my software development experience after graduation have further sharpened my subject expertise.
Among the subjects I tutor, math is my favorite. I enjoy how it teaches logical thinking and problem-solving, and I love helping students move from confusion to clarity. My teaching philosophy is centered around student engagement, clarity, and support. I believe in building a structured lesson plan while remaining flexible to accommodate each student's pace and learning style. I often use visual aids like PowerPoint and real-life examples to make abstract concepts more accessible.
Outside of academics, I enjoy technology projects, creative writing, and exploring different cultures through travel and food. These interests keep me curious and help me connect with students on a more personal level.
