After graduating the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with bachelor's degrees in political science and chemistry, I completed my master's degree in curriculum and instruction at Tennessee Technological University. I then taught a combined 11 years of middle school science, high school physical world concepts, environmental science, and my favorite, chemistry.
While sharing my passion for chemistry with students through hands-on activities and weekly labs remains my favorite part of teaching, I enjoy finding ways to guide students to their own deep understanding of core chemistry concepts. My approach incorporates an examination of real-world observations and data to encourage the development of genuine student questions, and the application of theory and models to support learning.
