I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

Most of my career, I have been a devoted teacher with 20+ years experience in the classroom--at the college level, at the secondary school level, in person and online, to both native and non-native speakers.

I am passionate about languages, literacy, and I am eager to share my enthusiasm for these subjects. But most of all, I believe in the power of education to empower individuals and transform lives. I am here to support you in your goals.

My degrees are interdisciplinary; I have a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies. Comp Lit is in the Humanities, with an emphasis on critical theory and foreign languages. So (while I can't teach maths), I have multiple endorsements, and I am able to teach multiple levels in each subject.

Most of the subjects I have taught are listed below. Those with an asterisk are undergraduate-level courses:

English 10 (World Lit),
English 11 (American Lit),
English 12 (British Lit),
*Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition (poetry, fiction from 1600- ),
*Advanced Placement English Language and Composition (nonfiction, rhetoric from 500 BCE- ),
*ENG 101, ENG 102
English as a Foreign Language and English as a Second Language,
Adult Basic Education English Language Arts (GED)
German Language and Culture (German 1, 2, 3, 4 and *GER 101, *GER 102, *GER 201, *Grundstufe B)

So whether you need to master the basics, beef up your vocabulary, pass a test, get help with writing tasks, apply for college, or even learn German: I got you. Let me help!
