Certified Tutor

I am a recent graduate of Scripps College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a focus in Microbiology. During my four years at Scripps College, I worked part-time as a microbiology research assistant. I worked with Bacillus bacteria and their responses to metal intoxication. I am always open to sharing my research experiences and stories with students who are interested. I am currently studying for my Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and hope to apply to medical school next year.

I began working as a tutor my sophomore year of college. I tutor a broad range of subjects but mainly focus in Middle and High School Math and English. I enjoy working with middle and high school students but also have experience working with college students. I tailor my tutoring around a student's strengths and feel every student is smart in their own way.

I also have assisted students with college applications, admission essays, and improving their study skills. I worked as an Admission's Mentor my senior year and can provide insights into college admissions process. t

I love getting to know each of my students and their goals for the semester. I do my best to incorporate a student's interests into my lessons to demonstrate how the material is applicable to their own lives. At the same time, I love to use visuals to teach and have students engage in active learning. I find tutors can serve an active or more supplementary role. I let students decide which path they would like to take.
