Certified Tutor

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of North Dakota (UND) in May of 2022, but I started my academic journey at Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) where I earned my Associate in Arts in 2019. I tutored for CCTC's Student Learning Center, where I worked as a Peer Tutor specializing in Writing from January to December of 2019. During this time, I also volunteered as an ESL Tutor through a Lutheran Services Carolinas, where I helped refugee students from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Although things became complicated with the onset of the CoViD-19 Pandemic, I enrolled as a Transfer student at UND in January of 2021. Later that Summer, I worked in a Learning Center where I worked with students ranging from Kindergarteners to High Schoolers, helping them develop their fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension. When Summer ended and Fall began, I moved onto my university campus and began working at UND's Writing Center as a Writing Consultant, where I worked with adult writers at every stage of the writing process to both develop their own skills as writers and improve their drafts, ranging from Freshman English Composition students writing their first college essays to faculty members at the university revising their articles for academic publishing.

While I have tutored Math, Spanish, and ESL in the past, I am truly passionate about tutoring English and Writing. It's satisfying to help a student revise an essay to improve clarity, concision, flow, organization, and everything else that they can work on to improve that paper and (more importantly) improve as a writer. That being said, I believe education is always about the students. I strive both to focus on what will help my students the most and to maintain a genuine interest in all of my students and form a connection with them both to make each session more enjoyable and to make them more comfortable discussing aspects of writing they are weaker in so we can make them stronger writers.
