Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of The University of Georgia and University of Phoenix. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a major focus in Publication Management and minor focus in business. While working from home and raising my children, I completed my Master of Arts in Education. After graduate school, I began my certified teaching career in a self-contained fifth-grade room. In addition, I taught departmentalized classes in math and science at the elementary level. My tutoring experience includes helping students in an after-school program, math 4th through 8th grade. Currently, I teach Writing focusing on essay writing (structure, content, writing process) and grammar. My qualifications for teaching writing include both my journalism degree and published work as an author. As a classroom teacher, I have tutored and instructed students in small groups and one-on-one with remediation and extension lessons. Having a child with special learning needs, I discovered that not all students learn in the same manner. Instruction is not a "one-size-fits-all" program. I believe teachers and tutors need to tailor extension and remediation lessons to fit learning styles, needs, and behaviors. As a professional writer, I remain an avid writer, reader, and learner. I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, cooking, and watching SEC football, especially The Georgia Bulldogs.
