I started teaching while working on my Ph.D. in Ecology. After earning my doctorate I continued to teach classes in biology. My goal through my ten+ years of teaching biology at the university level has always been to impart understanding as well as knowledge to students. I emphasize synthesis of topics, rehash key points as needed, assess students and adjust as needed. I bring the same mindset to tutoring; I want the students I help to not just get the right answer, but understand where it came from.
