As a ten year classroom teacher, I enjoy working with students to help them gain a better grasp on topics. I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in biology. During my teaching career, I taught various science classes at the high school level, including: chemistry, biology, earth science, physical science. Since moving into a stay-at-home parent role, I have acted as a substitute teacher at the elementary level. I have also tutored students in math and science from the elementary to community college levels.
I particularly enjoy working with students in the sciences. The unique vocabulary and concepts in science can be overwhelming, so I like to assist in simplifying these concepts and making them more relatable. I believe that trying to find each student's strengths and modes of learning are in order to tailor instruction to those strengths. I do my best to make tutoring interactions low stress to allow students to be comfortable and receptive to learning.

I have three sons that occupy much of my free time. They are busy with various athletic activities, so my wife and I are also busy running them to practices and watching their competitions. I also enjoy playing golf, traveling with friends and family, and listening to podcasts while doing things around the house.
