Certified Tutor

Hello! I am an experienced educator looking to help you (or your student) gain confidence, mastery, and a love of learning. I have worked with all ages as a teacher, tutor, camp counselor, and mentor.

I have experience teaching 7th and 8th-grade science, and 4th - 6th grade. (I taught for 5 years.) In college and when I was teaching, I was also tutoring (10 total years)! I have tutored high school students and middle school students, primarily.

I love working with neurodivergent students (ADHD, ADD) and have great strategies that can help ALL kinds of kids learn. I love that tutoring can give students that extra time to understand a topic in their own way and gain confidence that they are capable of learning ANYTHING they set their mind to. A growth mindset is central to my tutoring, as well as connecting topics to student interests.


Not only do I LOVE science, but it has been woven into almost every part of my career for over a decade!

I have my Bachelor's degree in Biology. During university, I completed ecology research in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands at the UNC field research center. In my final semester, I student-taught high school Biology. I also received a distinguished designation on my Biology Praxis exam, meaning my score was in the top 10% of all test-takers that year.

After graduation, I taught 7th and 8th-grade science (which includes chemistry, physics, and biology topics) as well as ran a school garden and health club. Then, I developed and implemented the 4th-6th grade curriculum at the next (Montessori) school I taught at before developing and implementing a project-based learning curriculum for 7th and 8th grade in the middle school. I have tutored students in almost all of the sciences, and I have a passion for science.

I love reading, writing, and have a ton of experience teaching essay writing and writing in general.

I received my minor in English Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill. I received a perfect score on the writing portion of the SAT when I took it as well. I tutored high school students in writing and college essay writing. I also developed and taught a 4th - 6th grade writing curriculum. I have experience with poetry, creative writing, academic writing, essay writing, persuasive writing, etc.
