I have been working with children for 8 years through various means. I am passionate about teaching in particular because it is so rewarding to know that I have been able to make a difference in a student's life. I believe that teaching is not only rewarding, but also humbling. My goal when teaching is not to just teach my students the material but to teach them about culture and life. After spending years as a camp counselor and getting to know my students, I decided it was time for me to make a bigger impact. So, I took up TESOL. Through ALO7, I have been able to teach children in China English for the past 2 years. I have helped so many students increase their fluency and become more confident in their speaking.

For the past 4 years, I have been attending Kennesaw State University. Through this University I have been able to pursue my BA in Asian Studies with a minor in Linguistics. As a part of my degree program, I have studied Korean. In the fall of 2019, I started a year and a half study abroad program at Hanyang University in South Korea. During this program, I took part in an intensive Korean course where I spent 5 days a week 4 hours a day completely immersed in Korean. Now, I am proficient in Korean and I want to take my love of teaching farther.

My tutoring style is very interactive and fun. I put all my effort into getting the students involved in the curriculum. With younger students, I use a lot of props and other visual aids. However, with older students, I focus on honing their skills and building their confidence through conversational and reading exercises. I always tell my students that it is okay to not know the answer, but you have to try.
