Foreign Language as traditionally taught often makes the subject difficult for language learners. As speakers of one language already, all children can acquire a second language given the amount of compelling, repetitive input they receive. Teaching language in context can benefit all learners - twenty-five years of teaching high school French taught me that. I have also had success using this methodology with my ten year old grandson.
A veteran teacher always said that "Nothing succeeds like success." My job has always been to set the student up for success and instruct them in a way that will give them the tools that they need to do just that. My pet peeve is hearing anyone say: "I took 2 or 3 or 4 years of French, and I can just remember how to say my name." I think anyone would find that to be an unacceptable outcome!

I enjoy studying History and reading well written historic fiction. Pre-Covid, I really enjoyed traveling and hope to be able to do that once again. I also enjoy biking and walking.
