I recently graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Minor in International Studies. I've always had a passion for English and would frequently tutor on the side while in school. I did not know how much I loved teaching until I spent a semester at an elementary school in Florida and got to work with the most passionate third graders I had ever met. It was there that I built an entire curriculum for three students where the objective was to encourage and show the importance of reading and writing in everyday life as well as in academics. Because I worked with such a small group I was able to get to know the students and build a good relationship. I've also assisted various members of the community as a summary translator, converting material from academic and medical jargon to basic English. I am of the belief that education is not only a necessity but a right, and I want to let all my students know that they deserve the best. As John Dewey said, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."
