Harry: Stamford tutor
Certified Tutor
Hi everyone! My name is Harry, and I'm a rising senior majoring in Mathematics and Economics at Washington University in St. Louis.
I feel comfortable tutoring any math level, from Algebra 1 to Multivariable Calculus. I have specifically spent four semesters in college tutoring calculus students weekly. In total, I have tutored nearly 30 calculus students, both as individuals and in groups, and I therefore have vast experience in tutoring to various learning styles and abilities. I know the ins and outs of the calculus curriculum so I understand what concepts trip up students, and I have taught students under four different professors so I am familiar with adaptations to the core concepts. My wealth of exposure has even allowed me to create my own step-by-step generalized frameworks for solving certain problems.
I love tutoring: I love that aha-moment when a student finally grasps a tough or abstract concept, and I love being part of that process. I try to explain concepts in unorthodox ways: a student loves business? We can apply math to profit-maximization problems. Physics? Applying math to moving particles is incredibly intuitive. Math is beautiful in that it can be approached in many ways - for example, each problem has an algebraic, geometric, and graphical interpretation - and I love searching for the approach that best fits the student.
While my specialty is math, I am confident tutoring any section of the ACT. I look forward to working with you all!
