Certified Tutor

I am passionate about helping other learn to write because it is one of the most critical skills to be successful academically and in the workplace. However, writing is hard to teach and is often not taught well. I did not learn how to write until I took a private, one on one history writing course in college who taught me how to really think about a subject and communicate it to my audience. Without my amazing professor I would have not learned how to write and be as successful as I am today. I would love to share her wisdom and knowledge on all writing for individuals.

In addition, I am passionate about tutoring ESL and Spanish, for while language can be difficult, it is also incredibly rewarding. I am currently a third language (Arabic) learner and not particularly gifted in learning languages. Therefore, I understand the difficulties and joys that come with acquiring a new language.

In addition, I am available as an editor for essays. I require 24-hour notice before you want it back and invoice the online tutoring rate based on 15-minute increments. What is received back is:
- Track changes in the word document
- I proofread grammatical and spelling errors
- Overall structure will be checked and commented on
- A list of repeated mistakes or issues will be complied at the end of the document so the writer can learn from past mistakes and become a better editor himself or herself. In addition, I will attach learning resources and exercises on a topic the writer does not clearly understand. For example, if a writer submits an essay with lots of mistaken comma use, I would write that down and include links to good explanations of how to use commas and online exercises.

I am a graduate of Rice University with a degree in economics, although I also loved taking classes in history, Arabic, Spanish religion, and political science. Outside of academia, I love to read, crochet, run, and travel.
