Certified Tutor

I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington's Masters in Teaching Program. I am certified to teach both English Language Arts and English Language Learners. I also received my Bachelor's in English Language and Literature from the University of Washington. I have completed extensive coursework surrounding many genres of literature, creative writing, and academic writing. This past year, I taught 10th grade World Literature, 11th grade AP Language and Composition, and Middle School Language Arts. I also have multiple years of experience tutoring middle school and high school students, helping them to develop critical reading and writing skills. My favorite subjects to tutor are Literature and Essay Writing. I love discussing literature with students and helping them make sense of the content. I also love to see a student's confidence in their writing skills exponentially increase after working on an essay they are proud of!

I have a strong passion for teaching and education, and I believe that every student can succeed in the classroom with the right tools. I strive to prepare students for the next step in their education (taking the SAT or ACT test) and life beyond. I am a very energetic tutor, and I always align my tutoring style with the student's learning style. Whether they are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners, I have many tools to make the task at hand more clear for them. My experience in the classroom has taught me to quickly adjust to each student's needs.

Outside of tutoring and being in the classroom, I love to read, cook, and hike. I look forward to working with you!
