Jessica: Huntington tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Classics with a Minor in Mathematics. I later went back for my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I love to teach, and have been tutoring as far back as my first year in college, in 2001. I also have three years of classroom teaching experience. Some classes I taught include Trigonometry with Analytic Geometry and AP Computer Science.
In addition to teaching, I truly love to learn! I'm currently enrolled in a few online Statistics and Data Analytics courses, and am learning Japanese for fun! I also love gardening, cooking, and spending time with my husband and 3 cats.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I truly believe that everyone can learn, and that we all learn in different ways. Sometimes not understanding a subject has more to do with the way it was presented to us. I believe that every learner has unique needs and can benefit from a teacher or mentor who takes the time to look for and bring out their strengths.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I always like to take a little bit of time to get to know my students. I want to know how they like to learn so that I can adapt my lessons to their preferences. I like to take some time to listen to what the student wants to accomplish, and what they believe their biggest challenges are.
