Kelly: Mecklenburg County tutor
Certified Tutor
I received my BS in Biology from Oberlin College and my MS in Biology from Hofstra University. While attending Hofstra, I also worked as an adjunct faculty member for 3 years, teaching lab classes for Anatomy and Physiology and Introduction Biology. Additionally, I worked as a private tutor for SAT prep, high school biology, and anatomy & physiology.
Teaching is truly one of my favorite things to do. I enjoy figuring out the learning styles of each of my students and showing them that they are capable of more than they believed. Everyone learns differently, yet most classes are geared toward only one style of learning. Tutoring can be extremely helpful for those students that learn in different ways. Using feedback from the students, I find ways to help them conceptualize rather than just memorize the learning material.

I really enjoy the outdoors. Nature photography is one of my most recent passions, and I have always enjoyed hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures. I am also a PADI certified SCUBA diving assistant instructor and I love the ocean. When indoors, I enjoy watching funny TV shows and reading about science and medicine.
