Certified Tutor

I believe that I will be a great tutor because of my experiences tutoring a diverse array of students, from Kindergarten all the way to the college level. I graduated in Spring of 2014 from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Chemistry. During my undergrad years, I tutored people in Introduction to Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. While an undergraduate, I volunteered in a tutoring program called Tutorial Project, where I tutored a 3rd grader in Math and ELA, and then eventually oversaw the tutoring of 5-6 students.

In the summer of 2012, I worked for the Center For Talented Youth as a Teaching Assistant for Fast-Paced High School Chemistry. As a TA, I developed and implemented lesson plans for the organic chemistry unit, lab sessions, and class demos.

Most recently, I have just completed a year of service with City Year Washington DC, an Americorps program where we worked in under-performing elementary, middle, and high schools in the DC region. Specifically, I taught Math and ELA small groups in my 1st grade classroom to push students from being below grade level to on grade level. I assisted the team with their Math lesson plans and worked with the school to create Math initiatives.

In the upcoming year, I will continue working for City Year Washington DC as a Learning and Development Project Leader, where one of my responsibilities will be assisting my 5 school teams in creating and implementing Math and ELA lesson plans. In this position, I will have to research Math and ELA tutoring methods from 1st grade all the way to 12th grade.
