The student completed homework covering multiplying fractions (modeling, writing equations, written explanations, and word problems) and writing homework using transitional phrases. He continued working on an essay about his favorite athlete. He then completed/edited the first paragraph and started first body paragraph of the essay.

We spent the entire session going through a math website and learning about inequalities, graphing systems, integer operations, and variable equations. The student understood most material right away (she had some exposure to it before hand) and she struggled a bit with isolating variables. So, I plan on renting a textbook so she can go through specific problem sets and we have all the reference information on file.

Student 1 and I worked on addition problems and the multiplication tables using a grid. Student 2 and I worked on multiplication and division and multi step word problems. We also worked on reading comprehension using a 5th grade passage. He did very well.

We covered some basic factoring and rational functions from a homework assignment that I gave the student during our last session, and then we continued on to some trigonometry via the problem sets. Then, I assigned some work for her regarding the same trig topics.

We went over her review for the student's test on Tuesday, and we covered different characteristics of biomes and talked about their differences and we also went over the carbon cycle and touched on photosynthesis. The student had a very good attitude and was fully participating when asked questions. We talked about the best way she learns and determined that she works best with visuals, so I emailed her a few videos for the carbon cycle and photosynthesis that had very good visual aspects.

The student and I finished preparing for her final exam this Tuesday. We covered Tinbergen's four questions and how they could describe any of the other topics on the exam. We also covered song learning, gain of resource versus injury cost affecting fitness, and epigenetic changes that affect behaviors. I think he will do very well on this exam.
