Made sure to cover all material the student had not yet seen, including last math chapter on data analysis and probability and writing multiple-choice questions. Although we didn't get to cover these to the extent I'd like, she did get a sense of how to approach and what to look for in these kinds of questions. We reviewed approaches to all the material, especially the essay, and talked about pacing and skipping questions. She should definitely feel confident on Saturday, knowing that she's already done more preparation that most of the students who will be testing with her and has a much better sense of HOW to take this test, which is absolutely an integral part of performing well. We'll meet again at least once next week and continue where we left off.

The student took another practice test today and missed a lot of the back half of the test. We went over sec, csc, and cot, and I introduced her to sequences and series, which she didn't recall from algebra 2. Most of her mistakes were minor or slight misinterpretations of the question being asked.

We primarily focused on math homework. We talked about the importance of relying on equations to handle multiple part or long word problems. We discussed briefly how to handle the literature homework which required a subtle understanding of the evidence being described in To Kill A Mockingbird.

Physics: finished Chapter 18 Electric Energy and Current: resistors/resistance, superconductors, electric power, energy transfer, I squared R loss in power lines. Chapter 19 Circuits and Circuit Elements: schematics for circuits, closed/open, resistors in series and parallel.

The student and I discussed the reading comprehension portion of the assessment, analyzed the types of questions asked, and practiced sample questions. We also reviewed grammar questions and wrote a practice essay. The student and I also reviewed exam vocabulary.
