Tutoring review by Richard in Jeffersonville, KY
We reviewed some online homework that dealt with graphing quadratic equations (parabolas), finding the vertex and line of symmetry, choosing which graph best represented an equation. He generally did great. He got 17 out of 18 right, and one of the 1/2 points he missed was a typo, so he did really well. He has a really intuitive sense of math that needs to be nurtured, and I was very happy with today's results.

We went over problems involving right triangles, and especially 30-60 and 45-45 right triangles. Also involved were trapezoids, rhombi, and kites. The student is excellent. She sometimes makes math calculation errors, but she understands the concepts just fine.

Today we studied the letter C. We danced and sang a song about the letter C. We also learned words that begin with the letter C. Afterwards we looked at a few high frequency words. The student was able to write a capital and lowercase C. He spelled and pronounced his sight words. I left the sight word cards with him to practice.

Tutoring review by Sean in Jeffersonville, KY
The student and I covered several Spanish topics: vocabulary (storms and other natural disasters), conjugations in the preterite and imperfect, irregular verbs, and phrasal verbs. He is able to do well on his homework and tests, but it seems like he forgets what he learns and is unable to recall past work that he's done. I think it would help if he tried a bit harder to learn these topics more permanently (as opposed to memorizing them for a test and forgetting them). It may take greater upfront effort, but Spanish classes generally repeat the same topics, so it will pay dividends in the long run.

Tutoring review by Michael in Jeffersonville, KY
Today we reviewed for the student's upcoming test regarding similar topics as last session covering derivatives of specific functions. Specifically, he was still struggling with understanding taking the derivative of composite functions using the chain rule. We worked through examples and I reminded him how to do so. Similarly, he was forgetting the rules of the quotient rule as well. Overall, we worked through examples and I reminded him of these rules. As a final reminder before I left, I reminded him to review the quotient and chain rules and how they apply to taking derivatives. Also in the session, we continued our review of implicit differentiation, working through examples with me reminding him to follow certain rules either with calculus or in the algebraic manipulation of the final equations. Overall, the session went well and he should be better prepared for his test and should continue to review the specific items we discussed today.

Tutoring review by Jalyn in Jeffersonville, KY
We reviewed the alphabet with flashcards, practiced writing letters A-C, read a book and identified letters A-C in words, and sang a song with hand motions. I left the student with letter practice sheets and a coloring sheet. The student understands English very well and follows directions when prompted.
