Tutoring review by Cayla in Pleasant Hill, CA
The student and I continued working through his college algebra study guide for his test the next day. We worked on transformations, piecewise functions, and absolute value functions. The student continued to study throughout the night after I left, and I'm proud of the work he accomplished.

Tutoring review by Karlos in Pleasant Hill, CA
Concepts we covered were past tense preterite vs imperfect verb conjugations, Spanish idioms, and vocabulary using dictation and fill in the blank. We also worked on pronunciation and accentuation. We worked through some handouts the student's professor gave her for test preparation and went over the concepts of time duration, background vs principal information, and agents of verbs. She had difficulty at the beginning with the vocabulary, but we were able to work these questions during our tutoring session using the above mentioned strategies and materials. I emailed her a handout that I compiled of useful free Spanish Study Tools. I also gave her a handout on accentuation rules of Spanish. I am confident she left the session more prepared for her upcoming Spanish Test.

Tutoring review by Julian in Pleasant Hill, CA
Today, the student and I worked on his most recent Economics problem set on maximizing profits. We looked at several examples using fixed costs and marginal costs. The majority of the problems consisted of finding marginal revenue from total revenue given a demand curve. He struggled a bit with taking derivatives to get from total to marginal in both revenue and cost, but we went over derivative power rules and the pattern for it. With a little practice, he should be able to use it for these types of problems. He has no issues with the general concepts involved, but the math is relatively foreign to him, so going over the reasons for some of the steps helps him conceptually.
