We did a chemistry review of nomenclature and chemical equations through at least 20 practice problems. This included review of charges and polyatomic ions or formula symbols and compounds. We also reviewed online practice for math review and grade supplementation.

Today the student and I continued our work on multiplication and division. We practiced a lot of different multiplication tables and I feel confident that she has mastery of multiplication tables now. We then practiced some long division and she has shown that she understands long division well, and will be ready for the school year. After that we looked through her math book from last year and deduced that she has some issues with measurement, and we started doing fraction addition, subtraction, and multiplication. We will continue fraction work next week.

The student worked on math problems he felt unsure about on his placement test. We went over those topics. I gave a writing assignment on trench warfare.

When I asked the student at the end of this session how he felt he did on a scale of 0-5, he said he thinks he earned a 6 out of 5! And I agreed. He was on point from the very beginning of this session. We discussed his math worksheet, which involved multiplying decimals and some word problems involving decimals. Then he completed word problems, which focused on percents, fractions, and more decimal operations. I continue to be impressed by his problem-solving skills in multi-step problems. After completing math homework, he began reviewing his ELA book because tomorrow he has a 7-chapter test in ELA: he re-read up to 3 of the chapters, and I asked him questions about each chapter as he finished. He did a great job, and he expects to do really well on the ELA test.

Today, we covered more in-depth topics in functions, including: plotting equations and determining slope and y-intercept of a line. The student seemed to understand the topics fairly well. I have assigned him HW for class .
