We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

Tutoring review by Carol in Warwick, RI
We began the session with a reading comprehension passage that was science related. As she read each paragraph we reviewed what she read. Then we answered the questions and practiced tips for finding information in the passage and looking for keywords. Then we reviewed Chapter 6 math, which was over adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We then moved to adding and subtracting mixed numbers and converting answers into mixed fractions. She really gained confidence as we practiced. She appeared to understand more of the process for adding and subtracting fractions.

Tutoring review by Lawrence in Warwick, RI
We studied systems of equations (2 to 4 variables), exponential decay, and hydrogen ion concentration and PH. The student needs help keeping track of adding/ subtracting/ scaling values in parentheses, which is a simple error at least. She seemed to be pretty good at the problem solving part of the homework and seemed excited to learn the method to solving 3+ equation linear systems! I left her a sheet with problem solving strategies specific to the homework we were working on. I think she can handle any of the material she has shown me well so far, and she should be set to do well on the final at this pace.

Tutoring review by Aleah in Warwick, RI
We reviewed basically all the material that is going to be on the student's test tomorrow that she was not comfortable with. It was a variety of different topics, a lot of sketching graphs and such. The student mostly struggled with topics that were done a while ago, but once she was reminded how to do the problems, she remembered and understood. The student's attitude was positive.

We are studying for the student's final. We went over his lecture notes on translation and transcription. He took notes as I explained the concepts. I then quizzed him on some of the things I had just gone over with him and he seemed to be understanding the concepts better. We finished by reviewing about enzymes.

The student was allowed by his teacher to correct his wrong test questions, which he did during our session. He said that he understood everything we covered. We will be meeting again tomorrow to continue working on things. In particular, he has a worksheet on exponential growth and decay.
