Languages Tutoring review by Pam in Cambridge
We worked on the student's homework assignment on distinguishing female and male type vocabulary and utilizing the correct pronouns associated with the new vocabulary. She is showing great improvement in her Spanish skills. She has been working through an assigned program which is great for her. We also finished her Pre-Algebra homework. Overall she still needs more practice with fraction additions/subtractions and negative numbers but is improving greatly on identifying her mistakes.

We began with a quiz on the most important concepts of lessons 1 and 4 and then went over it. The student translated two passages first orally and then writing. We will begin with another quiz next time which will contain reflexive pronouns.

On 10/19 at 10am, the student and I worked through several of the quizzes online. We also used the "quizlets" that correspond to his exact book. Topics covered include but were not limited to: the indirect object pronouns as relevant to the use of "gustar", plural vs. singular use of this phrase, reflexive verb use, review of reflexive pronouns, review of conjugation of regular and some stem-changing verbs.

Languages Tutoring review by María Paz in Cambridge
In today's session we went over her last Spanish exam. She did well on it and only had to make a few minor corrections. After that, we went over her Spanish homework for next week and reviewed the material she is currently learning about the present tense. We also had time to resume our lesson from last week. We went over the vocabulary we learned and a few conjugations in the preterite.

Languages Tutoring review by Irina in Cambridge
This session was designed to invoke previously-studied vocabulary and expressions without structured preparation. We did a lot of role-playing, impromptu dialogues, and Q&A type of exercises with as little use of visual aides as possible. Also, we went over the student's homework written and verbal assignments, which were accomplished with an A+. Then we played a vocabulary game "Who Am I?" to encourage describing people/objects in synonymous manner. She did a very good job with this one! It really showed a very satisfactory amount of memorized vocabulary and her increased ability to converse more freely and grammatically correctly. Finally, we expanded our conversation on Russian numerals. For practice at home I asked the student to compose several sentences describing the age of her family members', friends, and pets'.

We worked on when to use certain pronouns. We also worked on making more active sentences by replacing nouns with possessive pronouns. The student and I also went over her latest test--she got a B+, which is definitely a sign of improvement. I think that she is grasping more of the content this time around because concepts have had time to sink in. We also worked on learning vocabulary for food (fruits, vegetables, meat, shellfish, condiments, etc.), and we worked on understanding when to use specific words related to quantity.
