I have my B.S in Cell and Developmental biology from the University of Rochester and MS in Applied Anatomy from Case Western Reserve University. I am an incoming M1 at Western Michigan Homer Stryker M.D School of Medicine. Demystifying science, biology, in particular, is one of my favorite activities. Anything can be learned and mastered, all you need is time and dedication. I hope you will reach out and trust me with your journey to better yourself or your child.

When I started undegrad in 2012, I was determined to not major in any science and go against the grain of the many science/ pre-med majors in my university so I decided to major in music. Interestingly enough, I took General Chemistry 1 and failed the first exam. My neighbor, assuming I was doing well, asked me if we could study and work on homework together and I though, "Well, if I'm going to fail, might as well not do it alone." I started working on homework with her and started to realize that I learned best when I taught others! Soon, I started "tutoring" many of my other pre-med friends in the same class and aced Chemistry! Since then, I've found a growing love for teaching others all sorts of subjects- especially all pre-medical sciences and the bible and it was my ticket into medical school! Still, medical school always hung on a string of doubt in my heart as I feel in love with teaching/ tutoring through teaching science and the bible so I eventually gave up medical school and started working at a school as a teaching aide with no idea if teaching was the path I should be on or not. Lo and behold near the end of the year, my school offered me a position and opportunity to become a certified teacher and here I am today working towards that and hoping to teach abroad someday!

Hi, I'm Elizabeth Krochka, but you can call me Beth. I'm a 23 year old Allegheny College graduate with a passion for learning and teaching. One day, I'd like to teach and I hope that working with Varsity Tutors and my clients will help me prepare to be a better teacher. I've always loved school, mainly because I had teachers who were extremely inspired by what they were teaching. They are why I think passion is the key to teaching and I hope to share my passion for learning with my clients. I think that a good teacher or tutor can be the difference between learning being a chore or an opportunity. Passion is contagious and once a student or client can view the information in a new light, what was once impossible becomes a conquered challenge.

I am a science nerd! I spent six years studying Biology, both as an undergrad and graduate student. I enjoy teaching!! It was the best part of being a graduate student. I was part of a peer tutoring/teaching program at my University, Northeastern State University. I helped a few students achieve a higher grade in their Biology courses. I was also a TA during grad school and helped teach Physical Science and Physics lab. I am currently trying to go to law school.

I have dedicated my professional life to education. It gives me great satisfaction to see ideas and concepts suddenly click for students. I am passionate about education as a pathway to new opportunities and economic success.I attended the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in sociology, minoring in psychology. I then attended Michigan State University, where I received the master's and doctoral degrees in sociology. My areas of interest included Latin American societies and so I learned Spanish as well. I have three times had teaching assignments in Central America. I worked for many years as a full-time professor and academic administrator; I have since retired but continue to teach social sciences courses on a part-time basis. I have worked extensively with students on individual projects and have served as a mentor to many students. I enjoy working with students at the high school and college levels and have had considerable experience working with adult students.In my leisure time I like to watch movies, to read, garden and visit friends and family members.

I am a music and arts industry professional with over 20 years experience working in a variety of settings. It would be my pleasure to help you achieve your academic and musical goals.I come from a family of teachers, specifically music educators, but my experiences run the gamut of all kinds of teaching paradigms. I've taught in inner city programs working with at-risk youth, I've helped prepare students for entry into college, worked with differently abled students facing their own unique challenges, and everything in between. I personally enjoy the process of getting to know a student, finding out exactly what it is that they need to be successful, and then helping them shorten their learning curve. I am a high school graduate currently attending Case Western Reserve University as a junior where I am double majoring in economics and physics. Although economics and physics are my majors, mathematics is my favourite subject. The reason I am tutoring is that I want to provide help in mathematics and other subjects which I did not have for myself when I was in high school. Not only do I want to tutor because I have a feeling it will be beneficial for students but I also enjoy teaching. Whenever I show teenagers something cool about physics or math, they seem to enjoy the subject more now that they know how it works and they also do better in their classes which is a great feeling for me and beneficial for the students. This friendly but passionate tutoring style is what will make the session enjoyable by both parties but also result in better grades. I also love sports(especially soccer and basketball), reading, writing and speedcubing.
