I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Art History from Valparaiso University and Master of Arts in Art History from Bowling Green State University. I earned my teaching license in Secondary Education from Eastern Illinois University in May 2022. I am currently a high school English teacher. Before I started teaching, I was a test prep tutor, and clocked hundreds of hours working with high school students on SAT reading and writing and ACT English and reading. I truly enjoy working with students and watching them learn and grow both in my classroom and as a tutor.

Don has all the usual academic degrees (BA, BS, MS, PhD). He currently specializes in tutoring differential and integral calculus, multivariable and vector calculus, differential equations and dynamical systems, as well as linear and matrix algebra. He also has lots of experience tutoring students in both high school and college-level algebra, precalculus, and trigonometry courses.

I am a graduate from the University of North Texas. I received my M.S degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I am passionate about biomedical research. I have been a biology and French tutor for more than four years. As a teaching assistant and a tutor, I listen closely to the student's concerns and provide academic assistance in courses such as Biology, Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, and French. I can teach in English and French as well. My hobbies are reading, traveling, cooking and playing tennis.

I have always loved helping others, and I've found that I do my best work in a one-on-one environment, like tutoring. I graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in communication disorders, and I will be working as a speech-language technician for Nebo School District, starting in the fall. I lived in the Dominican Republic as a church volunteer, and I am fluent in Spanish.I understand that students retain best what they do themselves. For this reason, my tutoring philosophy is to allow the student to go as far as he or she can alone and then give the tools necessary to figure the rest out together. This process continues until the student feels confident doing the work alone.

My name is Maisha and I am a graduate of Biology from UT Austin. I have a passion for learning and sharing this enthusiasm with others. I don't believe that education is restricted to the classroom-learning happens everywhere and throughout our lives. I hope to help students use what they learn to help them succeed outside of the classroom and well into the future. My favorite part about teaching is trying to help students overcome the fear and failure that can sometimes be associated with learning. And the amazing part about tutoring is that it's a two way street: I learn from my students just as much as, if not more than, they learn from me. In addition to my Biology degree, I also hold a UTeach composite science teaching certification obtained from UT's nationally recognized teacher preparation program. I student taught Integrated Physics and Chemistry at McCallum High School and stayed there to teach Aquatic Science and AP Biology for two more months. In my spare time, I like to read, swim, and watch foreign movies.

My reason for teaching is simple: to propel those around me to achieve their maximum potential. My life experiences has taught me that academic success not only comes from the self but also from the support received by others. The best academic support one can have is a person who is willing to be there to help you grow and learn. I want to be that person for all of my students and I strive to be that person every day. Reflecting upon my past educational experiences, I have always appreciated instructors who have taken a personal and individualistic approach. Life is about more than immediate education, and an instructor who could encourage and motivate me to work hard on my own accord were the ones I remembered the most. As an academic tutor, I aim to not only provide excellent quality tutoring and improve scores, but also to connect with the student and improve other equally important qualities such as personal motivation and critical thinking skills.It is my personal belief that after a solid knowledge foundation, critical thinking and self motivation are the two qualities that set someone apart from a great student to an exceptional one. My teaching and tutoring background extends through all ages from very young children to college aged students. The majority of my experience derives from my dance background, first as a substitute dance teacher and then as a frequent choreographer in college. I have also had experience as a peer tutor in several subjects in high school. I thoroughly enjoy working with students of all ages, and my highly diversified background allows me to adapt easily to new people. I am a graduate from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing and minoring in Design.I believe in a firm but encouraging and confidence-building teaching style and my ability to motivate others and provide a support system for students make me confident in the significant contribution I can bring to Varsity Tutors as an Academic Tutor.
