I am a current undergraduate student at Occidental College, where I am majoring in Chemistry. I have a passion for teaching and engaging students with their education. There is little that is more rewarding than aiding a struggling student successfully. In high school, I was a member of the National Honors Society and relished the opportunities that organization provided me to tutor others. I love learning, and I love sharing that with others. I love teaching struggling test takers how to view the SAT as an approachable, accessible set of riddles and games instead of as an intellectual brick wall. I am an actor, writer, and composer, with degrees in Theatre and English from Northwestern University. I have been passionate about literature and writing for as long as I can remember, and I use that passion to make critical reading, comprehension, and testing much easier and less daunting. I tutor English, Writing, and SAT Prep for Critical Reading and Writing. One of the things that make me stand out as a teacher is that I remember well what it's like to struggle in a subject. I was not good at math or science, so I understand what it is like to have difficulty grasping concepts. I can easily see how a student learns, and explain the concept in a manner in which the student can understand. Outside of teaching, I act in plays, write films, and I am currently composing a musical.

For the past two spring semesters I worked as a CollegeSpring Mentor, tutoring Green Dot Charter high school juniors for the SAT and teaching them predatory skills for college. In addition to my experience tutoring for the SAT, as a screenwriting major I most enjoy teaching my favorite subject, English. I love showing students the power language endows upon them to communicate their ideas and beliefs with others. I believe every student deserves the chance to succeed and to try to capitalize on their strengths while encouraging them to improve in areas they may traditionally find challenging. Endowing a student with confidence in themselves through patience and support is the best way not only to improve academic performance, but also transform them into lifelong learners.
